BATv started in Bulgong village, Elands. NSW around 1994 during the protests over the logging of old growth forests on the East coast of New South Wales, Australia

There was a need to videocam document the activity of the Wingham Forest Action group and provide this to the news department of the mainstream media.

We started with a Sony video8 then a Canon Ex1 Hi8, most of the protest actions and blockades were during autumn/winter at the logging sites in remote, high altitude areas of the East Coast.

The weather was usually cold and wet, the cameras failed on the first few occasions because of the extreme conditions, until we learned how to overcome the weakness of the technology at that time.

Now we do alternative community news and profile local artists, performers or whatever gets in front of the camera.
